friends,
For a project i'm searching for a good solution without high costs. I need to find a way to get an external button connected to a pc and signal the push and I need to switch on a LED (12V) which is in the switch (http://www.okaphone.com/artikel.asp?id=460084).
I was thinking of disambling an ordinary keyboard and replace one of the LEDs (Scroll-lock, numlock or capslock) with a relais (so a second circuit can provide the 12V line to the LED in the switch). With software i can turn on this relais by activating the function and recognize the push of the button by wiring a normal key of the same keyboard and signal the push by software.
I'd hoped there is an small keyboard (numeric) with LED for those functions, but i can't find one. I could also use a gamepad, but than i need to figure it out within the software to signal the push (and still need to activate a LED) and that is more code than for a regular keyboard.
Any other solutions or found a numeric keyboard with LEDs (and not a power-signal led!) ? Please respond!

Parallel port maybe. I am switching 8 relais here with it and you can also use it for reading data.
It's easy to connect and most printer are connected via usb nowaday.

Re: Input & Output to/from PC
Do parallel ports still exist
In that case i have a Velleman K-8000 for you.
You can have it for free if you want, i don't use it.
