I guess you had an initiative to install Bwired in a MAC Mini (http://www.bwired.nl/weblog.asp?id=364)

How is it going on?

I'm not running on it yet but busy with performing some last testing stuff
I replaced 1 of the hard disks with a OCZ Vertex Limited Edition (See photo)
I installed Windows 2008 R2 Server 64bits
I'm running a resolution of 2560x1600 on a dual-link DVI display using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter connected to a Dell 30inch
So I'm switching for some software to 64 bits (like MYSQL etc)
Also IIS7.x
Thats why it takes some more time to test, have to be sure it runs smoothly.
Until now I'm very pleased with the Mac Mini, unbelievable performance together with SSD
W2K8 is starting up under 15 seconds.
So I Think a couple of weeks and I'm done and running on the MAC.
Amazing energy reduction also, the MAC on W2k8 together with active DVI adapter is taking around 18 watt Idle.

Talking about servers.

I've just ordered a new Dell R210 1U server. They are cheap and use about 50 Watt's (depending on extra hardware that you put in)
I will be doing some testing, and when okay I will also get one for home to run my Asteris, Homeseer and some other things (replacing all my EEE boxes)

I was telling all of you all the time, the Mac Mini is the platform when you are looking for a powerfull, energy saving device. But none of you believed me and bought those EEEPC things. Glad, most of you realize now I was right all along

absolutely nothing wrong with my EEE box'ses, and a very cheap way to have things running here!

I agree with Rene, he told me years ago
I tested a lot of low consuming pc's
But believe me nothing compares!
50 watt is nice, but the new Mac Mini 2010 goes even down to 10 watt
Does not get hot and makes no noise.
Still running windows on it because i have no other option

@Bwired Even that will change in time, believe me (I mean you being a Windows guy)

I love the handling of the Mac OS, no doubt, its fast!
No i think im to old for that now and to much other things on my ToDo list......
But you never know

Running Windows on Atoms could be the problem, with Linux on them they work great, I use them for years with a system load of 0.15 average.

Apple's hardware is way to expensive, 800 Euros for a Mac mini? come on, takes some years of electricity saving to get this money back, and their latest 'tricks' where they censorship their new iTunes Ping service, and the fact that tons of app developers are blogging more and more that they are waiting for months to get there app in the appstore (without a decent reason why Apple isn't doing anything) tells me to keep away from it for a while (I say that for years now)
Not to mention Jobs reactions on the iPhone4 grip of death issue... lol

Agree on the pricing.

So you have W2008 directly installed in the MAC? (not through any VMWare or any other Virtual machine emulation?)

What about drivers? What about antivirus?

Yes Directly installed Windows 2008 Server R2 Without any dual boot or apple OS.
All the drivers installed correctly, no red X in devicemanager.
From the Latest Bootcamp, you can retrieve some drivers W2K8 dos not have.
Works great until now, only downside is that I have the press the ALT key upon the apple bootsound.
For Antivirus I use AVG

When you install the bootcamp boot manager you make the Mac Mini to autoboot into Windows.

Would ik be possible to run VMWare or XEN on the box?

I investigated that but then there is always a MAC OS partition on it as wel.
How can I install this?, I will try it on my new MAC Mini 2010, just orderded
