RFXCOM device data - changes gone?

Hi,

Yesterday I changed MANY security devices through the RFXCOM plugin
(re-arrange, renaming, etc). After one hour the device order was perfect and the names were consistent.

Just now I looked at the devices through Status and through the RFXCOM plugin:
- around 50% of my changes are gone.
- Devices renamed (back to old name)
- Device/house-codes changed

I have noticed this before but now I want to mention this to see if anyone else has seen this. Today (around 18:00) the HomeSeer server was restarted for maintenance.

It takes 5 to 10 minutes for the RFXcom plugin to save the changes. So when you restart the server before that changes are gone.
I had that many times.

@Bert, Is there a way to manually trigger the saving proces?

That information is stored in the Homeseer database and there are at least 2 situations that changed information is lost.
1 if the changes are made and Homeseer is restarted within 5 minutes after it has been started.
2 if Homeseer is not stopped the normal way but for example a system restart without closing Homeseer the normal way.

I suppose you you did not stop Homeseer so that the database is not saved and closed correctly.

solutions for:
1 leave Homeseer running for 10 minutes, than close Homeseer so that the database is saved.
2 after making changes stop Homeseer and restart Homeseer to be sure the database changes are saved.

I made many changes and >12 hours after that I restarted the HS server.

Just restarting, I did not shutdown the HomeSeer service first.
That should be ok, right? Or should you stop the HomeSeer service before restarting the server?

Thank you!
DJ

Yes, you should stop HS before you shutdown the system. HS is abnormal terminated without saving the database if you shutdown the system!

Thank you Bert!

If you shutdown windows it will stop the processess just like when you press 'stop' in the services control panel.

However: talking to a friend of mine I just heard that Windows has some timer (like 15 seconds). If this timer expires it will terminate the process and continue the shutdown procedure.

Who has HS running as a service and how do you shutdown your windows? (do you manually stop the HS process first?)

Cheers
DJ
