In my house I have central ventilation.
Controlling is done via an switch in the kitchen.
In the kitchen there is no need for ventilation
I like to automate this.
Components:
1 SAIX for the ventilation control
1 SAIX for the bathroom light
1 Oregon Scientific THR228
RFXcom for receiving Oreagon data(ACRF 2)
Homeseer for controlling
Idea is when the bathroom light is on for more than 5 minutes switch on the ventilation SAIX on for about 30 min.
OR
When the humidity is >60% switch the ventilation SAIX on.
Will this work, are there better solutions?
thanks

Depends on what for Central ventilation system you have. Mostly the Dutch ventilation system have 3 settings (standard, middle and high). So the ventilation system is always running in default mode, normally you can't switch it off. For steering this you can use the XANURA VIX10 which will be on the control panel and can be installed on multiple places in you home for independent controlling.

You also need 2 XANURA SAX1 devices which need to be installed on the ventilator itself and make it able to control the different possible settings of the ventilator.

Once you have the control over the ventilator you can create all kinds of events together with Humidity, Temperature and motion sensors. You can check out more on this subject in the Xanura Documentation here http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6

Pieter,
Thanks for the attachments.
I never use the middle setting.
standard will always on en when there is need I will switch to high.
If I go for one SAIX this one must then be connected to the L1?

I would adjust my use the following rules:
- if ((dark outside and bathroom light is on) or (motion detected in bathroom during the last x minutes)) and (hot water is used for more than x minutes), switch on ventilation.
- When ventilation is turned on, turn it off when humidity reaches level that existed before hot water was started being used (+z %). Or something similar...
I used to have a ventilation with timer in my bathroom, but it was replaced with a 'dumb' one. So i already had some time thinking about how to automate this [:D]

Well, for me that's "future music" too for now;[:)] i'm working on the AND and OR's right now. Triggers are only "one-liners" until that part's finished.[V]

I would make it "simpler" (i guess)
When someone in the bathroom for over 2 minute, turn ventilation and keep it on for 5 minutes after people left the bathroom.
As for the humidity, I have a separate dehumidifier I could turn on/based on humidity.
(But right now I only turn it when I take a bath, and keep it on for 1 hour afterwards)

I'm using the humidity device used to control small exhaust ventilation motor. It was sold by Elro in the past but now it is in the Conrad catalog. It is all enclosed and a turning knob to set the desired level of humidity. The 230V output has been connected to an AIX module.
As i notice the level of humidity can be so high in case of autumn weather with a high level of humidity outdoor that the ventilation motor will stay on. You may adjust the knob but you have to set it back again.
In case the desired level of humidity is not reached after 30 minutes the home controller will just turn the ventilation off.

@Henk
do you have any link to the product?
Last weekend I saw a complete system including fan and sensor for about 30 euro (Praxis)
